About us
Built by parents. Made for families.
Spell Together started with a very simple idea:
What if weekly homework could bring families closer together, instead of becoming just another task to get through?
We know how busy family life gets
Like a lot of parents, we know how busy family life can get. Work, school, clubs, dinner, bedtime — and somewhere in the middle of all that, there’s a spelling list that needs practising.
At the same time, grandparents, travelling parents and other family members often want to be more involved in a child’s everyday life, even when they live miles away.
Video calls are brilliant, but sometimes there’s only so much you can say after:
“How was school?”
“Fine.”
“What did you do today?”
“Nothing.”
We thought there had to be a better way.
So we built Spell Together.
Turning homework into time together
Spell Together lets children practise their school spellings with the people they love, wherever they are.
A parent uploads the weekly spelling list, sends a secure link to a trusted family member, and they can practise together online.
- Grandma can help from another country.
- Dad can practise from a hotel room while travelling for work.
- A parent living in another home can still be part of homework night.
- Grandad can stop asking what happened at school and start being part of it.
The learning matters, of course.
But the conversation, encouragement, laughter and regular time together matter just as much.
We believe technology should bring families together
There are plenty of children’s apps designed to keep children occupied on their own.
Spell Together is different.
We don’t want technology to replace parents, grandparents or teachers.
We want it to help them connect.
That’s why the person on the other side of the screen is the most important part of Spell Together.
- No endless feeds.
- No strangers.
- No public profiles.
- No advertising designed to keep children scrolling.
Just simple tools that help families learn together.
Your family’s privacy matters
Spell Together is built and managed by parents, and we treat children’s privacy the way we would want our own children’s privacy treated.
- We don’t sell your personal information or your child’s data to advertisers or third parties for marketing.
- Children don’t need their own email address or public account.
- Family practice links are controlled by parents and can be revoked.
- There are no public profiles, social feeds or stranger discovery features.
We want families to feel comfortable knowing that Spell Together is designed around their children — not around monetising their attention or their data.
Independent and family-built
Spell Together isn’t a product created by a huge toy company or advertising platform.
It’s an independent product created by parents who saw a problem in their own family life and decided to build something better.
When you subscribe to Spell Together, you’re helping us continue improving the product, supporting an independent family-built business and helping us create new ways for families to stay connected through learning.
More than spelling
Spellings are where we’re starting because they’re something millions of families already practise every week.
But our bigger ambition is simple:
Help families learn together, wherever they live.
Over time, we want Spell Together to make it just as easy to share reading, phonics, times tables, languages and other small learning moments.
Because childhood is full of little moments that disappear surprisingly quickly.
If technology can help Grandma hear one more story, Dad practise one more spelling list from a hotel room, or two households share one more part of a child’s school week, then we think it’s technology worth building.
